Incense Project / Coil + Drift x JM Generals

One of the most powerful guides to awaken a space is scent. Through this project, we embarked on a new exploration of scent by crafting bespoke incense- a tender practice of remembering.

The fragrance was developed in collaboration with Jeffrey Montiero of JM Generals. It’s composed of Petitgrain, Spruce, Patchouli, Balsam of Peru, and Frankincense. We began with 15,000 handmade, low-smoke, Japanese-style incense sticks made of Elm Wood. We then infused them with our blend of essential oils.  After soaking up the scent for one week, they were individually bundled and packaged. This process was done entirely at our Catskills atelier by the Coil + Drift team and Jeffrey.  For a month before mailing them out to our clients, colleagues, and trade members to welcome in the New Year, we lived with this incense while we patinaed and answered emails. We burn them on long days- a reminder of our shared connection.
